Why trek in the Himalaya?
Because the Himalayan landscape is irresistible. Reaching the heights and being a part of the landscape is an experience beyond comparison. We have designed trips with you in mind - whether you are a novice with no trekking experience, but have a desire to trek or whether you are an experienced mountain walker looking for wider options. Our treks range from easy adventures for the family to strenuous ones for the fit. On our treks and climbs, we have very skilled and experienced "Sherpas" who will take care of you at each step. For those who love the thrills of whitewater, we organise river rafting trips in rivers ranging from the Zanskar, the Brahmaputra, the Alaknanda, the Bhagirathi to the Ganges. All our river guides are conversant in English and can explain about the history, culture, and customs of the region, allowing you to gain the best insight on the people and places you visit. Ladakh, or "Little Tibet", is in one of the most remote areas north of the Himalayas on the Tibetan Plateau and south of the Karakorams. This region being in the rain shadow has a spectacular moonscape devoid of vegetation except where there is the occasional stream. Ladakh has remained isolated for centuries to the outside world due to its inaccessibility and the strategic position it occupies in the northern frontier. As such, many parts still remain closed to tourists.
Ladakh's rich cultural and religious heritage can be seen in the centuries-old monasteries, some of them built on sheer cliffs and still functioning actively. This is one of the last few places where one can witness Tibetan Buddhism being practised in its original form. Ladakh offers wonderful treks over rugged landscape and high passes, and easy treks going through villages. For those interested in climbing, there are a range of 6000m snow capped peaks. The Indus and Zanskar rivers provide excellent whitewater rafting opportunities for the adventurous and regions of intense beauty for the romantically inclined. For non trekkers, we provide overland jeep safaris into Ladakh from Lahaul/Spiti, from Manali to the high altitude lakes of Tsomoriri, Pangong and the picturesque Nubra Valley.
